The Sheikh Zayed Solar Power Plant is a 15-megawatt photovoltaic facility in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. It was one of the largest solar power installations in Africa when completed and is the first such utility-scale installation in the country.

Masdar installed 16.6MW of photovoltaic (PV) projects across eight remote communities in Mauritania. Inaugurated in November 2016, the 16.6MW PV rural electrification programme was funded by the governments of Mauritania and Abu Dhabi.

The project comprises of two solar PV plants with a total capacity of 311 MW located in Riverside County, California. Together, the projects feature 780 thousand Bifacial Canadian Solar panels with SMA inverters on NexTracker single axis trackers upgraded with TrueCapture Software, guaranteed to increase project output.

Located in Willacy County, Texas, this 273 MW project is part of the 1.6 GW clean energy portfolio Masdar acquired in partnership with EDF Renewables.

The Desert Harvest 1 and Desert Harvest 2 PV projects, which total 217 MWdc of solar, started commercial operation in December 2020. The projects are located in Riverside County, California.

With 400kW of solar photovoltaic panels, 600kWh of battery storage, and 184kW backup diesel generation, the system will mainly be powered by solar energy, with a standby diesel generator to provide power during the wet season.

The 29.9MW Sterling project in Lea County, New Mexico was commissioned in 2017 and is comprised of 13 GE 2.3MW turbines.

Masdar installed solar home systems in more than two dozen villages around Camp Robinson within the Helmand Province of southern Afghanistan.

Masdar is supporting the economic development and the Egyptian government’s plans to expand tourism along the Red Sea by developing four solar PV power plants in the region

Located 27 kilometres off the coast of North Norfolk in East Anglia within water depths of between 18 and 25 metres, the Dudgeon Extension Offshore Wind Farm is one of Masdar's latest investments in the United Kingdom’s renewable energy sector.

The Cibuk 1 wind farm is a utility-scale onshore wind farm located in Vojvodina province, Serbia. The project provides clean, reliable and economically viable electricity to around 113,000 Serbian homes.

Masdar has implemented a hurricane-resistant clean energy plant in Antigua and Barbuda that contributes to Antigua and Barbuda's goal of producing 15 percent of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2030. The project includes an 800kW diesel power plant and a 720kWh hybrid solar power plant, as well as an 863kWh battery system to store excess electricity generated.

The Investment agreement for the 315MW Neftchala Solar project was reached in October 2023, followed by the signing of Power Purchase Agreements, Transmission Connection Agreements, and Land Lease Agreements.

Inhabitants on three of Fiji’s outer islands (Kadevu, Lakeba, and Rotuma) have access to energy around the clock having previously had power for only 12-18 hours a day

In January 2020, Masdar signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT PLN Nusantara Renewables, a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN), the state-owned electricity company in Indonesia. The agreement was to build Southeast Asia’s largest floating solar power plant.

Masdar entered the geothermal market in February 2023 by investing in one of the world’s largest geothermal players, Pertamina Geothermal Energy. The geothermal plants generate 4.8TWh geothermal energy with 3,915,000 tons of carbnon dioxide avoided each year.

Masdar and Taaleri SolarWind II Fund have together acquired 50:50 stakes in the Mlawa and Grajewo Wind Farms in Poland.

Hywind is the world’s first floating offshore windfarm, located off the coast of Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Masdar has a 25 per cent stake in the 30MW project, along with lead operator Equinor, which owns 75 per cent.

Masdar has helped bring electricity to nearly 7,000 homes and other community buildings in remote areas of Al Wadi Al Jadeed, Aswan, Luxor, Matruh, Qena and Sohag governorates of Egypt. 

The Port Victoria Wind Power Project, Masdar’s 6MW wind farm in the Republic of Seychelles, is the country’s first large-scale renewable energy project. At the start of operation it accounted for more than 8 per cent of the grid capacity on the archipelago’s main island of Mahe, where 90 per cent of the country’s residents live.

The Toshka Solar Power Plant located in Egypt provides power for the large-scale operations of an agriculture company

Located east of Amman, Baynouna is the largest single solar energy project operational in Jordan

In April 2023, Masdar signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Government Support Agreement (GSA) with the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to design, finance, build and operate the Nur Bukhara 250MW solar and 63MW/126MWh battery storage project.

Located in the Jambyl region, this 1GW wind farm with a 600-megawatt-hour (MWh) BESS is Masdar’s inaugural project in Kazakhstan and one of the largest in Central Asia.

The Welkin Road battery energy storage system (BESS) plant is situated in Stockport on a previously industrialized site, conforming to Masdar Arlington Energy’s strategy to house projects on land in need of redevelopment and regeneration. The 20MW/40Mwh plant will power 10,000 homes per day based upon two cycles per day. It is expected to become operational in Q2 2025.

In November 2021, Masdar signed an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Armenia to design, finance, build, own and operate a utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

In November 2019, Masdar signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Government Support Agreement (GSA) with the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to design, finance, build and operate the country’s first public-private partnership (PPP) solar power plant.

The Khobab Wind Farm was contracted under the South African Government’s Round 3 Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme, achieving commercial operation in December 2017.

The Republic of Palau consists of over 250 islands inhabited by a total population of 21,186 citizens, the majority located on four main islands including Peleliu and Anguar

In July 2021, Masdar signed an agreement with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan to design, finance, build and operate a 220 megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar PV project in the Samarkand Region.

The Zarafshan project is Central Asia’s largest wind farm. The 500MW capacity plant will power 500,000 homes.

In July 2021, Masdar signed an agreement with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan to design, finance, build and operate a 220-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar PV project in the Djizzakh Region of Uzbekistan.

In August 2021, Masdar signed an agreement with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan to design, finance, build and operate a 457-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar PV project in the Surkhandarya Region of Uzbekistan. This project reached full capacity in 2024, with commercial operation expected to commence in 2026.

In December 2023, Masdar and Taaleri Energia, a Finnish-based renewable energy developer and fund manager, acquired eight hybrid renewable energy projects in Poland, marking a significant expansion in Masdar’s presence in Poland.

The Tafila Wind Farm is the first commercial utility-scale wind power project in the Middle East. Located in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the 117 megawatt wind farm has increased the country’s total power capacity by 3 per cent.

The Morocco Solar Home Systems (SHS) project is a Masdar-led initiative in partnership with Morocco’s Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE). It provided 19,437 solar home systems in over 1,000 villages in the Kingdom of Morocco.

Baltic Eagle is a joint venture project between Masdar and Iberdrola, involving the construction of a 476 MW offshore wind farm located near Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea.

Loeriesfontein 2 is situated in the Hantam Municipality of South Africa’s Northern Cape and was contracted under the third round of the country’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.

Noupoort Wind Farm successfully reached commercial operations on schedule and on budget in July 2016

Perdekraal East is a 110 MW wind farm located approximately 30km north of Touwsriver in Western Cape, South Africa.

The 243 MW Coyote wind project is part of Masdar’s second strategic EDF investment in Scurry County, Texas and features (48) 4.5 MW and (11) 2.4 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines.

The Benban Solar Power Plant in Egypt has a total combined capacity of 1.8GW, 230MW of which is owned by IPH and the rest by other developers.

Big Beau is a 164 MWdc solar PV and 40 MW/160 MWh battery energy-storage system. Located in Kern County, California. The project features more than 443 thousand Bifacial Canadian Solar panels with power electronics inverters on ATI trackers.

The key applications of the project are grid stabilization, frequency regulation and reactive power support.

The 158.7MW Parc Eolien Taiba N’Diaye (PETN) provides power for over 2 million people.

This 1.2MWp Solar Power Plant is located at Anton de Kom University of Suriname Campus, also including 576kWh BESS for energy shifting, peak shaving, output stabilisation and education purposes. The Solar+BESS will be used for Renewable Energy Education courses in the faculty of Engineering.

The 35MW/70Mwh plant will power 15,900 homes per day based upon two cycles per day. It is expected to become operational in Q2 2027.

Lekela’s West Bakr Wind project in the Gulf of Suez takes advantage of a world class wind resource to produce 252MW of clean, reliable power at a highly competitive price.

In December 2025, Masdar signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia’s national utility, to develop the region’s largest floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant at the Chereh Dam in Pahang State, marking Masdar’s inaugural project in Malaysia.

Masdar has entered into a Public Private Partnership Agreement to design, build and operate a 300MW solar photovoltaic power plant and 75MWh capacity battery energy storage system in the Kashkadarya Region in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Financial close was reached during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026.

The 230-megawatt (MWac) Garadagh (Area 60) Solar PV Plant is the country’s first foreign investment-based independent utility scale solar project structured as a public-private partnership.
