Overview

Located in the Jambyl region, this 1GW wind farm with a 600-megawatt-hour (MWh) BESS is Masdar’s inaugural project in Kazakhstan and one of the largest in Central Asia.

Masdar is the lead developer, working with partners W Solar, Qazaq Green Power (a Samruk-Kazyna Group company) and the Kazakhstan Investment Development Fund.

Once completed, it will provide power to approximately 300,000 homes in the south of Kazakhstan, avoiding 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

With abundant solar and wind resources, Central Asia is a key strategic region for Masdar. Beyond its footprint in Kazakhstan, the company has an active presence across the region, including in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
