Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Masdar Collaborate to Make UAE Diplomatic Buildings More Efficient
Abu Dhabi, UAE: December 23, 2013 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, have signed two contracts whereupon Masdar will audit the energy, waste and water efficiency of the UAE Ministry Foreign Affairs headquarters, and provide an assessment on the sustainability elements of the new UAE embassy design in Doha, Qatar.

Masdar City Welcomes Heritage Walk Women for Final Night of Their Trek from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi
A group of 30 women participating in the Heritage Walk from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi camped in Masdar City last night. Held under the patronage of Sheikha Shaikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the 140 kilometre trek pays tribute to UAE history, when Emirati families regularly made the trip from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi. The Heritage Walk culminates today in Al Bateen after the sixth and final night in Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.

WiSER initiative announces partnerships with UNFCCC and WEC
Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) has announced two major partnerships as part of the COP21 climate negotiations. The partnerships, with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the World Energy Council, will help forward the role of women in sustainability.

The Welkin Road battery energy storage system (BESS) plant is situated in Stockport on a previously industrialized site, conforming to Masdar Arlington Energy’s strategy to house projects on land in need of redevelopment and regeneration. The 20MW/40Mwh plant will power 10,000 homes per day based upon two cycles per day. It is expected to become operational in Q2 2025.
