Pioneering Energy Worldwide

In Indonesia, Masdar is actively engaged in projects and collaborations pioneering energy solutions that will reduce emissions in the country and the wider region. Masdar will continue to pioneer innovative projects in Indonesia and the region to support ambitious net-zero goals.

In January 2020, Masdar signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT PLN Nusantara Renewables, a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN), the state-owned electricity company in Indonesia. The agreement was to build Southeast Asia’s largest floating solar power plant.

Masdar entered the geothermal market in February 2023 by investing in one of the world’s largest geothermal players, Pertamina Geothermal Energy. The geothermal plants generate 4.8TWh geothermal energy with 3,915,000 tons of carbnon dioxide avoided each year.
