Masdar CEO named United Nations’ “Champion of the Earth”

Organized by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the award seeks to honour individuals whose actions and leadership have made a far-reaching positive impact on the environment. The award is a precursor to the United Arab Emirates’ participation at the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June, during which governments and civil society will review progress and renew their commitment to global sustainability.

Masdar supports campaign to host Expo 2020

Abu Dhabi, UAE, March 1, 2012: In November 2011, the United Arab Emirates presented its bid to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris to host the World Expo in Dubai, between January 4 and June 30, 2020. Masdar has released its 2020 Annual Sustainability Report that revealed it more than doubled its clean energy capacity over two years to generate enough electricity to power over four million homes. The capacity of the renewable energy projects that Masdar is a partner in has risen to over 10.7 GW in 2020 from 4 GW in 2019, with the company’s global operating clean energy portfolio displacing close to 6.5 million metric tons of CO2 annually.

Ecothon Plus competition winners announced at the World Energy Congress

Masdar has awarded the winners of the Ecothon Plus competition at the World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi. The competition was held as part of Masdar’s Future Sustainability Leaders programme.
