SAGIA Initiates Investment License Process for Saudi Wind Project

The Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) announced today that it has initiated the process to give an investment license to the consortium of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar and EDF Renewables which last week was awarded the Kingdom’s first utility scale wind project at Dumat Al Jandal.

Masdar City Welcomes Heritage Walk Women for Final Night of Their Trek from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi

A group of 30 women participating in the Heritage Walk from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi camped in Masdar City last night. Held under the patronage of Sheikha Shaikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the 140 kilometre trek pays tribute to UAE history, when Emirati families regularly made the trip from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi. The Heritage Walk culminates today in Al Bateen after the sixth and final night in Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.

Pertamina Geothermal Energy

Masdar entered the geothermal market in February 2023 by investing in one of the world’s largest geothermal players, Pertamina Geothermal Energy. The geothermal plants generate 4.8TWh geothermal energy with 3,915,000 tons of carbnon dioxide avoided each year.

Located 32 kilometres off the coast of North Norfolk, in East Anglia, Dudgeon is one of Masdar’s current investments in the UK’s renewable energy sector.

Project Chereh

In December 2025, Masdar signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia’s national utility, to develop the region’s largest floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant at the Chereh Dam in Pahang State, marking Masdar’s inaugural project in Malaysia.
