Jordan’s Prince Hamzah Hospital deploys sustainable lighting solutions under 20by2020 initiative
As part of the UAE humanitarian initiative, ‘20by2020’, the Zayed Sustainability Prize announced that Prince Hamzah Hospital in the Jordanian capital Amman has deployed sustainable lighting solutions. The hospital is currently treating the largest number of COVID-19 patients in the country.

EWEC Announces Partners to Develop the World’s Largest Solar Power Plant
The Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has announced the award for the development of the world’s largest solar power plant. The project was awarded to a consortium led by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Masdar, with partners EDF and JinkoPower, to develop the 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Producer (IPP) project, which will be located approximately 35 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city. The project’s power purchase agreement (PPA) and shareholders’ agreement were signed with EWEC.

Masdar has announced a partnership with Circle of Hope, an organization founded by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. The partnership aims to help educate and empower women and youth and to combat climate change across the UAE and beyond. The agreement was signed by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Founder of Circle of Hope and Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar during a virtual signing ceremony.

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Masdar and Khalifa University of Science and Technology
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for power generation and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water, and the Abu Dhabi-based Khalifa University of Science and Technology, represented by Masdar Institute, to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable desalination technologies needed to enhance regional water security. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the International Water Summit, a key event of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, the region’s largest gathering on sustainability.
