  • Sultan bin Ahmed inaugurates Sharjah’s 1st solar plant ‘SANA’

    His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Petroleum Department, and President of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), attended the opening of "SANA," the first solar power plant in Sharjah, on Wednesday morning. This new facility covers a large area of 850,000 square meters and can produce 60 megawatts of energy. It is located next to the Sajaa Gas Plant.

  • Masdar Joins Forces with RWE in £11 billion Investment to Co-develop Massive 3GW Offshore Wind Projects in UK

    Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy powerhouse, is part of an £11billion investment into the UK’s renewable energy sector and is purchasing a 49 percent stake in RWE’s 3 gigawatt (GW) Dogger Bank South (DBS) projects - which form one of the world’s largest planned offshore wind farms. DBS is capable of powering millions of British homes, reducing emissions and creating up to 3,000 jobs. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary approvals and expected in the first quarter of 2024.

  • DEWA and Masdar reach financial closing on 1800MW 6th phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), announced the financial closing of the 1800-megawatt sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. The solar park’s capacity will exceed 5,000 megawatt by 2030, with investments totalling approximately AED 50 billion.   • EWEC Announces Partners to Develop the World’s Largest Solar Power Plant

    The Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has announced the award for the development of the world’s largest solar power plant. The project was awarded to a consortium led by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Masdar, with partners EDF and JinkoPower, to develop the 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Producer (IPP) project, which will be located approximately 35 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city. The project’s power purchase agreement (PPA) and shareholders’ agreement were signed with EWEC.

    Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has selected International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to oversee the funding of the largest solar power plant in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a 200-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic facility being developed by the wholly owned Masdar subsidiary Baynouna Solar Energy Company (BSEC).
