World’s largest offshore wind farm produces first power
The 630MW scheme, located in the Thames Estuary, will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm. The development has been under construction since March 2011 and 151 of the 175 turbines have now been installed, with construction on schedule to be finished by the end of the year.

UAE puts energy-water-food-climate nexus on UN agenda at ongoing climate negotiations
The United Arab Emirates today hosts COP18’s central discussion of the energy-water-food-climate nexus, in cooperation with New York University. The panel, “It Never Rains in the GCC,” had identified priority government interventions in the market to manage the nexus as its global significance intensities. Held as part of the UNFCCC climate change negotiations in Doha and moderated by Chatham House, the panel brings together experts from the OECD, World Economic Forum, Global Water Partnership, Qatar Foundation, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, New York University, and UN Food and Agriculture Organization.

The ministerial conference is an outgrowth of the ASPA Summits of Heads of State and Government in Doha in 2009 and Lima in 2012. The summits identified energy as the backbone for Arab and South American dialogue and collaboration.

Prime Minister David Cameron inaugurates world’s largest offshore wind farm
London Array, the 630MW offshore wind farm located in the Outer Thames Estuary, first started generating power in October 2012. The 175th turbine was bought online in March 2013 and London Array is now celebrating the completion and full operation of the site, which could supply around 500,000 UK homes with electricity each year.
