His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, visited Masdar City today. Organized under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Head of the General Women’s Union, the EmiratesSkills National Competition is taking place April 23-25 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Masdar Wins Three Emirates Energy Award Prizes
Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, yesterday won three awards at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy’s inaugural Emirates Energy Award ceremony. Masdar was recognized for its achievements in developing large-scale renewable energy projects, designing buildings with high levels of energy efficiency and cultivating young professionals in the clean-energy sector. The Emirates Energy Award recognizes and encourages best practices and leading initiatives in energy efficiency, alternative energy, sustainability and environmental protection.

Zayed Sustainability Prize 2020 submissions up 13 per cent
Following its 11th annual awards ceremony, held in January, the Zayed Sustainability Prize, the UAE's pioneering global award in sustainability, entered a four-month submissions phase for the 2020 awards, which closed on 30th May with a record 2,373 completed submissions; a 13 per cent increase over the previous year.

Masdar and Statoil collaborate to explore potential of battery storage solution at Hywind Scotland
Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, has announced the signing of a collaborative agreement with Norwegian multinational oil and gas company Statoil to analyse data from “Batwind” – the integrated energy storage system designed to store energy generated by Hywind Scotland, the first commercial-scale floating wind farm that was inaugurated by the two companies last October – and explore the battery’s potential for further applications and business opportunities.

Masdar City’s PRT system celebrates milestone with 2 millionth passenger
The Masdar City Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system celebrated its 6th anniversary on 28 November, just a week after carrying its 2 millionth passenger. The PRT’s driverless pods have covered a distance of more than 891,879 km on their transit route over the past six years, and have displaced CO2 emissions equivalent to running 53 cars for a whole year.
