Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2015 Kicks Off UAE’s ‘Year of Innovation’

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is the first major event of 2015 reinforcing the UAE’s ‘Year of Innovation’ – a federal initiative promoting innovation as a strategic pathway to strengthen the country’s economy and global competitiveness. The yearly platform, January 17-24, directly supports the federal innovation strategy by promoting technology and attracting investment in priority sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, water and education.

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, and Bee’ah, the UAE’s leading environmental management company, have secured financing commitments for the Sharjah Multi-Fuel Waste-to-Energy Facility, the flagship project of Emirates Waste to Energy, a joint venture between the two companies launched in May 2017.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, came to a successful conclusion on 20 January after further cementing its role as the world’s most inclusive sustainability gathering. The event brought together more than 38,000 attendees representing 175 countries, ranging from Heads of State and leaders of industry to students and local communities.

The UAE Inaugurates Three Micro Grid Solar Plants in Fiji

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s minister of foreign affairs, today inaugurated a solar photovoltaic micro grid project that brings clean energy to some of Fiji’s outer islands. Constructed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, the clean energy project is the third financed by the United Arab Emirates’ US$50 million Pacific Partnership Fund, through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The Fiji project was financed with US$5 million from the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund.

Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge Launched

The Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge (ADSC), the first ever solar car competition to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was announced today. Navigating the entire country, the 1,200km ADSC will start and finish in Abu Dhabi and take place from the 16-19 January, 2015. The race will coincide with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and end at the opening ceremony of the World Future Energy Summit.

Masdar City Welcomes Heritage Walk Women for Final Night of Their Trek from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi

A group of 30 women participating in the Heritage Walk from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi camped in Masdar City last night. Held under the patronage of Sheikha Shaikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the 140 kilometre trek pays tribute to UAE history, when Emirati families regularly made the trip from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi. The Heritage Walk culminates today in Al Bateen after the sixth and final night in Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.
