Masdar and Costa Rican Electricity Institute to advance renewable energy development

Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad, or ICE) have announced a collaboration to promote renewable energy development.

Dudgeon wind farm on track as first turbine begins delivering electricity

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, announced today that its second large-scale offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom has started supplying electricity to British homes. Around six thousand households are now receiving power from the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm after the project’s first turbine began operating today. Sixty-seven 6-megawatt (MW) turbines will be installed altogether, generating enough power to provide electricity to 400,000 homes.

The consortium consisting of EDF Renewables and Masdar has completed the financing of the Dumat Al Jandal utility-scale wind project in Saudi Arabia, with the backing of Saudi and international banks.

World’s first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm on its way to Scotland

The first of five turbines for the Hywind Scotland commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm has now sailed away (date 17/07/2017) from Stord in Norway to its final destination, Buchan Deep, 25 km east of Peterhead in Scotland. IRENA Global Headquarters Building at Masdar City is Completed

Masdar today announced the completion of the IRENA Global Headquarters complex, which is almost fully leased and will be the permanent home of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as well as other commercial tenants. WEC and Masdar Sign Patronship Agreement to Address Global Sustainable Energy Access

The World Energy Council (WEC) and Masdar have signed a Patronship Agreement, announced on the sidelines of COP21 in Paris. The WEC is a global multi-energy non-profit organisation that promotes the sustainable supply and use of energy and has an exclusive Patronship programme with 50 of the world’s leading energy companies. Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Masdar and Khalifa University of Science and Technology

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for power generation and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water, and the Abu Dhabi-based Khalifa University of Science and Technology, represented by Masdar Institute, to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable desalination technologies needed to enhance regional water security. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the International Water Summit, a key event of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, the region’s largest gathering on sustainability.

Zayed Future Energy Prize expands global reach in record year for entries

The Zayed Future Energy Prize has closed submissions for its 10th cycle with a record of 2,296 entries – a 37 percent increase compared to 2016. Nominations for the Large Corporation and Lifetime Achievement categories yielded 1,113 entries, while the remaining 1,183 submissions were for Small & Medium Enterprise, Non-Profit Organisation, and Global High Schools categories.
