Masdar City expansion plans earn Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council approval

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy and sustainable development company, and the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) today announced the UPC’s approval of the Detailed Master Plans for Phases 2 and 5 of Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.

Dudgeon wind farm on track as first turbine begins delivering electricity

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, announced today that its second large-scale offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom has started supplying electricity to British homes. Around six thousand households are now receiving power from the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm after the project’s first turbine began operating today. Sixty-seven 6-megawatt (MW) turbines will be installed altogether, generating enough power to provide electricity to 400,000 homes.

IRENA Global Headquarters Building at Masdar City is Completed

WEC and Masdar Sign Patronship Agreement to Address Global Sustainable Energy Access

The World Energy Council (WEC) and Masdar have signed a Patronship Agreement, announced on the sidelines of COP21 in Paris. The WEC is a global multi-energy non-profit organisation that promotes the sustainable supply and use of energy and has an exclusive Patronship programme with 50 of the world’s leading energy companies. Patronship companies are members of the Council who commit to engage with WEC on global issues and projects. Renewables accounted for 81% of 2021 capacity additions, IRENA says

Renewable energy maintained its growth momentum in 2021 despite global uncertainties, accounting for 81 percent of total capacity expansion last year, according to the latest report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
