Masdar has been recognized as Future Energy Leader of the Year at an awards event in Dubai yesterday. Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi, Director, Asset Management and Technical Services, Masdar, received the award on behalf of the company at the Hydrogen Futures Award.

Masdar has committed to a range of green hydrogen initiatives in recent years. At Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2021, Masdar announced it was partnering with local and international organizations to develop a green hydrogen and synthetic aviation fuel demonstration project in Masdar City.

In December, Masdar announced a strategic partnership with French energy giant ENGIE to explore the co-development of a UAE-based green hydrogen hub, with a total investment of US$5 billion to develop projects with a total capacity of 2 gigawatts. At ADSW 2022, Masdar extended its collaboration with ENGIE to include an agreement with Fertiglobe to develop a globally cost-competitive green hydrogen facility in the UAE.

The Hydrogen Futures Awards, organized by global leading renewable energy event organizer Leader Associates and part of Connecting Green Hydrogen MENA 2022, aims to recognize excellence and achievement across the hydrogen sector. Its Future Energy Leader award celebrates companies that are committed to forging new shared understanding and sustaining effective cooperation in the ongoing era of energy and climate neutrality.
