Global business and policy leaders gather for official opening of ADSW 2017

Cepsa and Masdar join forces to expand their renewables businesses internationally
Cepsa, a global energy company with more than 85 years’ experience, and Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, an international leader in renewables and sustainable urban development, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore renewable energy project collaboration, especially wind and solar. Masdar City’s PRT system celebrates milestone with 2 millionth passenger
The Masdar City Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system celebrated its 6th anniversary on 28 November, just a week after carrying its 2 millionth passenger. The PRT’s driverless pods have covered a distance of more than 891,879 km on their transit route over the past six years, and have displaced CO2 emissions equivalent to running 53 cars for a whole year.

World’s first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm on its way to Scotland
The first of five turbines for the Hywind Scotland commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm has now sailed away (date 17/07/2017) from Stord in Norway to its final destination, Buchan Deep, 25 km east of Peterhead in Scotland. Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, announced that it had acquired a 25% stake in the Hywind Scotland project during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January.

IRENA Global Headquarters Building at Masdar City is Completed
Masdar today announced the completion of the IRENA Global Headquarters complex, which is almost fully leased and will be the permanent home of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as well as other commercial tenants.
