Masdar signs agreement to develop Georgia’s largest utility-scale solar power plant
Masdar, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, has signed an agreement with the Georgian Energy Development Fund (GEDF) to develop a solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in the country, with a capacity of as much as 100 megawatts (MW). The project, which will be jointly developed with the GEDF, will be Georgia’s largest solar power plant.

Abu Dhabi invests US$100 million in agricultural technology companies to secure food supply chains, Bloomberg reports
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has made agreements with agricultural technology companies, including Madar Farms, to deliver research and development and food production facilities in the emirate, Bloomberg reported. Authorities invested US$100 million in the companies, which also include AeroFarms and RNZ, as they look to build vertical farms to secure supply chains in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, the news organization said.

Y4S Leader travels to Antarctica on climate mission
Athra Khamis, a Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Future Sustainability Leader, has swapped the desert environment of the UAE for a very different kind of desert: Antarctica. The 24-year old Emirati participated in March in the 2041 ClimateForce: Antarctica Expedition, organized by the 2041 Foundation, as part of a group of global youth leaders to witness firsthand the effects of climate change on the continent and raise awareness of the issue.

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Masdar and Khalifa University of Science and Technology
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for power generation and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water, and the Abu Dhabi-based Khalifa University of Science and Technology, represented by Masdar Institute, to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable desalination technologies needed to enhance regional water security. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the International Water Summit, a key event of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, the region’s largest gathering on sustainability.

800MW third phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park reaches financial close
