Oman’s Dhofar Wind Farm produces first kilowatt hour of electricity
The landmark wind farm, which is fully funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for international development aid, was successfully connected to Oman’s electricity transmission grid last week during the commissioning of the project’s first wind turbine, which is now supplying clean power. The remaining 12 wind turbines will be commissioned, tested and connected to the grid in sequence, ensuring the start of commercial operations before the end of 2019.

Zayed Sustainability Prize winner pilots project at Masdar City

Masdar Hits Halfway Milestone in Project Bringing Electricity to Rural Morocco
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 9 April 2016 – Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has installed 50 percent of the solar home systems as part of an innovative project to electrify rural Morocco. The installation of 9,000 out of 17,670 systems across 940 villages comes only a year after the partnership agreement was signed between Masdar and Morocco’s Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE).

The UAE to Soar to New Heights with Falcon-Inspired Design for Expo 2020 National Pavilion
The National Media Council has selected architect Santiago Calatrava’s design for the UAE Pavilion for Dubai World Expo 2020. Located facing the Al Wasl Plaza, which lies at the centre of the 200-hectare exhibition zone, the UAE Pavilion – whose design will be inspired by a falcon in flight – will represent the UAE to the 25 million visitors and participants from over 180 nations who are expected to visit the Expo from October 2020 to April 2021.

DEWA signs with Masdar to implement 800MW 3rd phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced today the selected bidder for the 800 megawatt (MW) third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will be constructed based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. HE Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State, and Chairman of Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, was present. The selected bidder for the project is a Masdar-led consortium including the Spanish companies FRV (Fotowatio Renewable Ventures) and Gransolar Group. The consortium bid a Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE), of 2.99 US cents per kilowatt hour (kW/h).
