UAE supports first Tashkent International Investment Forum

Y4S Leader travels to Antarctica on climate mission
Athra Khamis, a Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Future Sustainability Leader, has swapped the desert environment of the UAE for a very different kind of desert: Antarctica. The 24-year old Emirati participated in March in the 2041 ClimateForce: Antarctica Expedition, organized by the 2041 Foundation, as part of a group of global youth leaders to witness firsthand the effects of climate change on the continent and raise awareness of the issue.

Masdar and France Sign Joint Declaration to Cooperate on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Today at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, Masdar signed a joint declaration with France in the presence of French President Francois Hollande. The agreement was signed by Delphine Batho, French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company.

Financial Times names Masdar City best free zone for renewable energy
Masdar City has been named “Best Free Zone for Start Up Support” by the Financial Times and has collected three other prestigious global awards. The Global Free Zone of the Year Awards hosted by the FT’s fDi Magazine are among the most high-profile awards in the free zone sector, with approximately 65 free zones entering this year’s competition. This is Masdar City’s second consecutive year receiving awards.

KACARE Delegation visits Masdar City
Masdar officials hosted a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) at Masdar City and provided a guided tour of the world’s most sustainable urban development. The KACARE delegation began its two-day visit to Masdar City on August 26 with a series of briefings at the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

Cooperation Agreement to Support Renewable Energy Projects in 16 Caribbean Island Countries

Mexican President Visits Masdar City During ADSW 2016
His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, yesterday paid a special visit to Masdar City – Masdar’s greenprint for one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments. Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Masdar and Khalifa University of Science and Technology
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for power generation and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water, and the Abu Dhabi-based Khalifa University of Science and Technology, represented by Masdar Institute, to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable desalination technologies needed to enhance regional water security. UAE-PPF training programme boosts renewable energy development capacity
The third session of the Pacific Renewable Energy Integration training programme, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, successfully concluded today in Auckland, New Zealand. The programme focuses on development and financing of solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects and is managed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The programme is funded through the US$50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-PPF) which has executed renewable energy projects in 11 Pacific Island countries.

Zayed Future Energy Prize expands global reach in record year for entries
The Zayed Future Energy Prize has closed submissions for its 10th cycle with a record of 2,296 entries – a 37 percent increase compared to 2016. Nominations for the Large Corporation and Lifetime Achievement categories yielded 1,113 entries, while the remaining 1,183 submissions were for Small & Medium Enterprise, Non-Profit Organisation, and Global High Schools categories.
