World Energy Day was celebrated for the first time three years ago, after being called by the World Energy Forum. The UAE led the signing ceremony at the time of the International Declaration for the World Energy Day, along with several other heads of states and governments participating at the 2012 World Energy Forum held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Masdar Unveils 2015 Sustainability Report
Masdar has released its 2015 Sustainability Report, documenting the renewable energy company’s sustainability milestones in the period October 2014 to September 2015. Masdar developed the report using the internationally recognised sustainability reporting framework from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), in accordance with the latest GRI G4 guidelines. The report discloses a wide variety of sustainability indicators, ranging from economic and environmental data to labour practices and employment information.

IRENA Global Headquarters Building at Masdar City is Completed
Masdar today announced the completion of the IRENA Global Headquarters complex, which is almost fully leased and will be the permanent home of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as well as other commercial tenants. Masdar to Deliver 12MW of Solar Power in Mauritania
Masdar today signed a contract with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, to deliver seven solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, with a total capacity of 12 megawatts, providing access to clean and reliable energy to seven towns across the country. Masdar and China Vanke Co. Ltd. Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Masdar Reveals Winner of Third International Blogging Contest themed ‘Describe Your City in 2030’
Abu Dhabi, UAE: 14 January, 2015 – Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, today announced the winner of its third annual Engage Blogging Contest. The contest received 106 entries from 40 countries, all of which creatively described the ideal, sustainable city of the future. The collective entries drove thousands of people to Masdar’s website to engage in a digital dialogue – an exchange of ideas – about how the world’s urban centers can become bastions of sustainability, cities that offer a place to live, work and play without undue environmental impact.
