  • KACARE Delegation visits Masdar City

  • Mexican President Visits Masdar City During ADSW 2016

    His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, yesterday paid a special visit to Masdar City – Masdar’s greenprint for one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.   • First Startup Accelerator in Middle East Focused on Sustainability and Clean Tech Launched by Masdar

    Today, as part of Masdar’s Innovation Week activities, Masdar, BP and Masdar Institute launched The Catalyst, the region’s first technology startup accelerator focused on sustainability and clean tech. The Catalyst, which is supported by USD 5 million in funding from BP, will help startups accelerate their business through funding, training and mentorship. Launched on the first day of Innovation Week with a high-level panel session attended by Minister of State and Chairman of Masdar HE Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, The Catalyst promotes innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of a knowledge-based economy in Masdar City and Abu Dhabi, in line with the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy.

  • UAE-PPF training programme boosts renewable energy development capacity

    The third session of the Pacific Renewable Energy Integration training programme, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, successfully concluded today in Auckland, New Zealand. The programme focuses on development and financing of solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects and is managed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The programme is funded through the US$50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-PPF) which has executed renewable energy projects in 11 Pacific Island countries.

  • Masdar signs collaboration agreement to develop major wind power portfolio in Egypt

  • Masdar and ONEE Partner to Deliver Electricity to 940 Remote Villages in the Kingdom of Morocco

    Masdar and Morocco’s Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE) have signed a partnership to design, supply and install 17,670 Solar Home Systems across 940 villages in the Kingdom of Morocco. When complete, the solar homes, along with broader electrification initiatives, will result in 99 percent of rural Morocco having access to energy by the end of 2017 – a critical resource that underpins economic development.

  • Oman’s Dhofar Wind Farm produces first kilowatt hour of electricity

    The landmark wind farm, which is fully funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for international development aid, was successfully connected to Oman’s electricity transmission grid last week during the commissioning of the project’s first wind turbine, which is now supplying clean power. The remaining 12 wind turbines will be commissioned, tested and connected to the grid in sequence, ensuring the start of commercial operations before the end of 2019.

  • Lighting up Australian Antarctic station with solar

    Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, and the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) have successfully installed the first solar panel system at an Australian Antarctic station, it was announced today. The solar installation will provide up to 30 kW of electric power to the Casey research station, located on Vincennes Bay in the Windmill Islands, just outside the Antarctic Circle, during the Austral summer months. The aim of the project, which is the first solar array providing power to an Australian Antarctic research station, is to reduce the reliance on diesel fuel, which is delivered yearly by the AAD’s Antarctic icebreaker, the Aurora Australis, from Hobart, Tasmania – a journey of 3,443km.
