World Energy Day was celebrated for the first time three years ago, after being called by the World Energy Forum. The UAE led the signing ceremony at the time of the International Declaration for the World Energy Day, along with several other heads of states and governments participating at the 2012 World Energy Forum held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Masdar Unveils 2015 Sustainability Report

Masdar has released its 2015 Sustainability Report, documenting the renewable energy company’s sustainability milestones in the period October 2014 to September 2015. Masdar developed the report using the internationally recognised sustainability reporting framework from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), in accordance with the latest GRI G4 guidelines. How sustainable technology will help Sharjah turn waste into energy

Sharjah has an ambitious goal to become the first zero-waste city in the Middle East by diverting all of its municipal waste away from landfill sites by 2020. IRENA Global Headquarters Building at Masdar City is Completed

Masdar today announced the completion of the IRENA Global Headquarters complex, which is almost fully leased and will be the permanent home of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as well as other commercial tenants. Located in Masdar City – Abu Dhabi’s low-carbon, sustainable urban development – IRENA will officially move in by the end of the first quarter 2015.

Masdar to Deliver 12MW of Solar Power in Mauritania

Masdar today signed a contract with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, to deliver seven solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, with a total capacity of 12 megawatts, providing access to clean and reliable energy to seven towns across the country. Completion of all the projects is expected by the first quarter of 2016.
