Jordan’s King Abdullah II Inaugurates First Utility-Scale Wind Farm in the Middle East
Tafila, Jordan, 17 December, 2015 – His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan inaugurated today the first utility-scale wind power project in the Middle East with high-level officials from across the Middle East in attendance, including HRH Prince Talal bin Muhammad; HE Dr Abdullah Ensour, the Prime Minister of Jordan; HE Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Chairman of Masdar; HE Dr Ibrahim Saif, Jordan Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; HE Bilal Rabie Bilal Al Bodour, UAE Ambassador to Jordan; and Dr Ahmad Belhoul, CEO of Masdar. Built by the Jordan Wind Project Company (JWPC), the wind farm is a joint project of Masdar, InfraMed and EP Global Energy.

Sultan bin Ahmed inaugurates Sharjah’s 1st solar plant ‘SANA’
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Petroleum Department, and President of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), attended the opening of "SANA," the first solar power plant in Sharjah, on Wednesday morning. This new facility covers a large area of 850,000 square meters and can produce 60 megawatts of energy. It is located next to the Sajaa Gas Plant.

Etihad Rail and Emerge Sign Landmark Solar Power Deal at Global Rail 2024
Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE National Rail Network, signed a landmark agreement with Emerge, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC - Masdar and EDF Group to solarize the railway network’s freight terminal in Ghuweifat. The total installed capacity is comprised of a 600 kWp ground-mounted solar PV system in addition to a 2.56 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), and upon completion is expected to generate up to 85% of the terminal's electricity consumption.
