Masdar Reveals Winner of Third International Blogging Contest themed ‘Describe Your City in 2030’
Abu Dhabi, UAE: 14 January, 2015 – Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, today announced the winner of its third annual Engage Blogging Contest. The contest received 106 entries from 40 countries, all of which creatively described the ideal, sustainable city of the future. The collective entries drove thousands of people to Masdar’s website to engage in a digital dialogue – an exchange of ideas – about how the world’s urban centers can become bastions of sustainability, cities that offer a place to live, work and play without undue environmental impact.

Act now to halve emissions by 2030, says IPCC
A reduction in the growth rate of global greenhouse gas emissions provides a short window of opportunity to limit the maximum temperature increase to 1.5°C (2.7°F) by 2025, and avoid the more catastrophic effects of climate change, scientists have stated in the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report.

UAE President, Egyptian counterpart witness signing of agreement to develop one of world’s largest onshore wind projects in Egypt
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt witnessed the signing of an agreement between Masdar, one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy companies, along with its Infinity Power joint venture with Infinity, Egypt’s main renewable energy developer, and Hassan Allam Utilities, to develop a 10-gigawatt (GW) onshore wind project in Egypt – one of the largest wind farms in the world.

President of Indonesia Inaugurates Southeast Asia’s Largest Floating Solar Plant

Masdar City’s Etihad Eco-Residence Wins Emirates Green Building Council MENA Green Building Award 2018
Masdar City’s Etihad Eco-Residence has won the Green Residential Building award at the Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Green Building Awards 2018. Zayed Future Energy Prize expands global reach in record year for entries
The Zayed Future Energy Prize has closed submissions for its 10th cycle with a record of 2,296 entries – a 37 percent increase compared to 2016. Nominations for the Large Corporation and Lifetime Achievement categories yielded 1,113 entries, while the remaining 1,183 submissions were for Small & Medium Enterprise, Non-Profit Organisation, and Global High Schools categories.
