Masdar’s CEO Receives Mauritania’s Order of National Merit Medal
Yesterday, His Excellency Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, prime minister of Mauritania, presented His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, with Mauritania’s Order of National Merit Medal. This is one of the most prestigious honours given by the President of Mauritania. Masdar Launches Shams 1, the World’s Largest Concentrated Solar Power Plant in Operation
Today, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi officially inaugurated Shams 1, the largest concentrated solar power plant (CSP) in operation in the world. Located in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, the 100-megawatt, grid connected power plant will generate clean energy to power 20,000 homes in the UAE.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson Visits Masdar City
As part of his Masdar City tour, Johnson visited the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, a graduate level, research-oriented university focused on alternative energy and sustainability. The Mayor met with staff and students to discuss the research being undertaken to advance renewable energy and clean technologies. He was keen to the view the innovative design of Masdar City, its rigorous sustainability standards as well as its integration of energy-efficiency technology with passive and intelligent design.

UAE Looks to Strengthen Economic Ties With China in Bilateral Talks
Major Gen Omar al Bitar Opportunities to strengthen economic ties between the United Arab Emirates and China, were the focus of talks during a two-day visit to China by UAE minister of state H.E Dr. Sultan Al Jaber. The visit is expected to lay the ground work for increased economic activity between the UAE and China which is growing at more than 14 per cent annually. ADNOC and Masdar Launch Joint Venture to Develop Commercial-Scale Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage Projects
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Masdar today signed a joint venture agreement – the Middle East’s first company focused on exploring and developing commercial-scale projects for carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS). ADNOC and Masdar jointly awarded a AED 450 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Dodsal Group to build a carbon dioxide (CO2) compression facility and a 50 km pipeline. The joint venture is 51 percent owned by ADNOC and 49 percent by Masdar.

Masdar and Equinor inaugurate world’s first battery storage facility connected to an offshore wind
