UAE and partners to build resilient green power system for hurricane-ravaged Barbuda
The UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (UAE-CREF) has announced a partnership with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Public Utilities, Civil Aviation, Transport and Energy, the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (NZMFAT) to restore power to Barbuda following the near-total destruction of the island after Hurricane Irma struck in September 2017.

DEWA and Masdar reach financial closing on 1800MW 6th phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), announced the financial closing of the 1800-megawatt sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. The solar park’s capacity will exceed 5,000 megawatt by 2030, with investments totalling approximately AED 50 billion. This is a new milestone in promoting the use of clean and renewable energy in the UAE.

Masdar to Acquire Saeta from Brookfield for $1.4 Billion
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC - Masdar (“Masdar”), the UAE’s clean energy powerhouse, today announced the proposed acquisition of Saeta Yield (“Saeta”) from Brookfield Renewable (NYSE: BEP, BEPC; TSX: BEP.UN, BEPC), together with its institutional partners (“Brookfield”), for an implied enterprise value of c. US$1.4 billion (€1.2 billion). Closing of the transaction is subject to customary approvals and is expected to occur around the end of 2024.

Three major solar projects inaugurated in the Caribbean
Three climate-resilient solar power projects in the Bahamas, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are being inaugurated this week under the US$50 million UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (UAE-CREF), the largest renewable energy initiative of its kind in the region.
