Masdar acquires solar power plant in Egypt
Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has acquired ib vogt GmbH’s shareholding in the 64.1 MWp “Infinity 50” photovoltaic project in Benban, Egypt. Masdar and ib vogt have additionally signed agreements of intent concerning the purchase of ib vogt’s shareholdings in three more solar parks also located in the Benban solar complex, which have a combined volume of 166.5 MWp.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Inaugurates 800MW Third Phase of Solar Park
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has inaugurated Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s, DEWA’s, Innovation Centre and the 800MW third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. With a planned total capacity of 5,000MW by 2030, the Park features an investment of AED50 billion.

Masdar and Statoil collaborate to explore potential of battery storage solution at Hywind Scotland
Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, has announced the signing of a collaborative agreement with Norwegian multinational oil and gas company Statoil to analyse data from “Batwind” – the integrated energy storage system designed to store energy generated by Hywind Scotland, the first commercial-scale floating wind farm that was inaugurated by the two companies last October – and explore the battery’s potential for further applications and business opportunities.

Solar and wind account for 67% of New Power Capacity Added Worldwide in 2019: BNEF
Solar and wind power accounted for over two-thirds of the 265GW of new capacity installed worldwide in 2019, up from less than a quarter of new build in 2010, according to data from BloombergNEF. Photovoltaics (PV) topped all other technologies in new-build terms, with a record 118 gigawatts constructed, and was the most popular technology deployed in a third of nations, the research company said.
