Tech Park to fuel startups in Abu Dhabi
Masdar City, Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban community, has launched Tech Park, a new destination for start-ups focused on technology, sustainability and the digital economy. The strategic hub will house companies receiving funding and mentorship through the Catalyst, the Middle East’s first start-up accelerator specializing in clean technology and sustainability, as well as provide a base for research & development and other enterprises operating in the sector.

Global Leaders Launch WiSER Initiative at New York City Event
As world leaders gathered in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly, over 80 top officials representing a diverse range of organisations convened to launch the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) Initiative. Founded by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, and the Zayed Future Energy Prize, WiSER aims to empower and inspire women to be catalysts of innovation and the drivers of commercial solutions that will address climate change and secure access to food, energy and water.

Masdar Showcasing Renewable Energy Desalination Project in Drought-Stricken California
Next generation desalination technologies, powered by renewables, could be invaluable in meeting California’s water needs and help the drought ravaged state become more resilient, according to Masdar, a leading clean technology company based in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE. The UAE to Soar to New Heights with Falcon-Inspired Design for Expo 2020 National Pavilion
The National Media Council has selected architect Santiago Calatrava’s design for the UAE Pavilion for Dubai World Expo 2020. Located facing the Al Wasl Plaza, which lies at the centre of the 200-hectare exhibition zone, the UAE Pavilion – whose design will be inspired by a falcon in flight – will represent the UAE to the 25 million visitors and participants from over 180 nations who are expected to visit the Expo from October 2020 to April 2021.

UAE and New Zealand inaugurate solar power plant in Solomon Islands
The United Arab Emirates and New Zealand today inaugurated a solar power plant in Solomon Islands, developed and deployed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. The project was deployed as part of the US $50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-PPF) financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the development arm of the UAE government.

President of Palau Inaugurates Masdar-Developed Solar Projects in Palau
H.E. Tommy Remengesau, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, yesterday inaugurated three small-scale solar energy projects in the South Pacific island nation of Palau. The projects were developed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, with funding provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development as part of “Cycle 2” of the US $50 million UAE - South Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-South Pacific Islands Fund).

Mission Accomplished for UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund as Masdar Delivers 11 Clean Energy Projects
The recent inauguration of a 600kW solar photovoltaic plant in the Federated States of Micronesia marks the successful completion of Cycle 2 of US$50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund. Through the UAE-PPF’s two cycles of financing provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, renewable energy projects have been delivered to 11 Pacific Island nations by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company.

Yesterday, His Excellency Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, prime minister of Mauritania, presented His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, with Mauritania’s Order of National Merit Medal. Today, Masdar and the UK Green Investment Bank plc (GIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore project investment opportunities in the UK’s clean energy sector. Mayor of London Boris Johnson Visits Masdar City
As part of his Masdar City tour, Johnson visited the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, a graduate level, research-oriented university focused on alternative energy and sustainability.
