Global carbon dioxide emissions set for second-biggest rise in history, says IEA

Global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions are set to surge by 1.5 billion tonnes this year – the second-largest increase in history – as coal use outstrips demand for renewables, according to a report from the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Masdar and Tonga Sign Mou to Build 500 KW Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant

Masdar will be in charge of the implementation and construction of a 500 KW solar photovoltaic power plant to be installed in Vava’u Island. The project, is financed by a grant provided by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the solar plant will deliver around 13 percent of Tonga’s annual electricity demand.
