Masdar City-based companies will offer UAE youth rewarding careers that will align with their interest in sustainability, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, said during the ‘Mohamed Bin Zayed Majlis for Future Generations’ virtual event.

“Today the City is home for innovative businesses, all of which need skilled employees to work on addressing key challenges surrounding sustainability,” Al Ramahi said. “Many of these ideas and ventures are being made possible by The Catalyst; our startup technology accelerator based in Masdar City,” he added.

The UAE – and the Middle East and North Africa region – benefits from a high proportion of young people, with the majority of youth in the country being interested in sustainability issues, Al Ramahi told participants in the virtual event.

Masdar’s Youth 4 Sustainability platform “is providing young people with the skills needed to pursue careers in the sustainability industry,” he said. The platform aims to offer job skills knowledge to up to 1 million young people by 2030 through a learning app, while 50,000 will participate in hands-on learning programs over the same period, Al Ramahi said.
“If we are to address the world’s climate action plan, we need the power of our youth,” he added.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the third edition of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Majlis for Future Generations is being held as a virtual event this year.

The 2021 Majlis focuses on three primary themes: A Changing World, New Opportunities, and The Next 50 Years. It aims to empower a new generation of leaders with interactive virtual experiences that motivate and engage them in plans to shape a bright future for the UAE.
