Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar has released its 13th Annual Sustainability Report, showing a 38 percent increase in clean electricity generation from its operating projects in 2025.

Actual generation rose from 29.2 terawatt-hours (TWh) to 40.2TWh during the year, helping avoid 19.5 million tonnes of CO₂e. The increase reflects the continued expansion of Masdar’s global portfolio and the performance of its operating projects around the world.

Masdar increased capacity from projects in operation or under construction by approximately 40 percent, from 32 gigawatts (GW) to 45.8GW. A further 20.7GW of secured projects or projects approaching final investment approval brought Masdar’s total portfolio to 66.5GW by the end of 2025.

The 2025 report included Saeta Yield and TERNA ENERGY within the reporting boundary for the first time. Together, they expanded Masdar’s operating platform across Spain, Portugal, Southeastern and Central Europe, adding wind and solar assets alongside a development pipeline that includes pumped hydro storage.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, said:

Masdar’s growth reflects the foresight of the UAE’s leadership and the country’s long-term commitment to clean energy. In 2025, our operating projects generated 40.2TWh of clean electricity and avoided 19.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, delivering reliable power and tangible economic and environmental benefits for our partners and communities around the world. As we advance towards 100GW by 2030, our focus is not simply on scale, but on building a stronger, more competitive global energy business that continues to create value for the UAE and our partners worldwide.

The report also highlights major project milestones during the year, including the start of power generation from the 476MW Baltic Eagle Offshore Wind Farm in Germany, the inauguration of the 250MW Nur Bukhara solar project in Uzbekistan and the securing of financing for the 2GW Al Sadawi solar project in Saudi Arabia.

Masdar also broke ground on its world-first gigascale round-the-clock clean energy project in Abu Dhabi. Combining a 5.2GW solar plant with a 19GWh battery storage system, the project is designed to deliver 1GW of clean power around the clock. It will demonstrate how solar and battery storage can provide continuous, reliable power at scale and establish a blueprint that can be replicated globally as electricity demand grows.

Masdar continued to attract strong support from international investors during the year. Following the publication of an updated Green Finance Framework in March, the company issued a further US$1 billion green bond in May. Investor orders reached US$6.6 billion, with international investors purchasing 85 percent of the bonds.

The issuance brought the total value of Masdar’s outstanding green bonds to US$2.75 billion. Masdar also maintained investment-grade corporate credit ratings of AA- from S&P, A1 from Moody’s and AA- from Fitch, while Moody’s reaffirmed its SQS1 (Excellent) rating for the updated Green Finance Framework. Masdar’s Sustainable Fitch ESG score increased from 71 to 74 out of 100.

The company also delivered more than 100 community initiatives across eight countries during the year. Masdar strengthened biodiversity protection across its global portfolio in 2025 through its Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT), 23 biodiversity surveys, three conservation partnerships, and AI-powered bird detection at the Zarafshan Wind Farm, which recorded no fatalities among target species.

The report details further progress across Masdar’s workforce and operations. Women represented 30.2 percent of the workforce and 20 percent of management roles, while the Emiratization rate was approximately 46 percent, excluding international operations. Teams across Masdar’s operations received 250,000 hours of health, safety and environmental training.
