Masdar CEO wins Energy Business Leader of the Year award
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, has been named Energy Business Leader of the Year by Gulf Business magazine in its annual awards event for the second time.
Hosted virtually, the eighth edition of the Gulf Business Awards acknowledged leaders who piloted their companies successfully through the market uncertainty of the past year as well as organizations that innovated and disrupted the regional business landscape. Criteria for recognition included a company’s or business leader’s ability to lead their sector through market insight, continual innovation and cutting-edge strategy, and company growth and expansion into new markets.
This year, Masdar has entered several key markets, including Southeast Asia, committing to develop a floating solar power plant in Indonesia, and Australia, where it has invested in two energy-from-waste projects. Masdar has also expanded its presence in the US, the second-largest renewables market, agreeing to acquire a 50 percent stake in a 1.6-gigawatt (GW) clean-energy portfolio.
The winners for the Gulf Business Awards were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, including: Dr. Habib Al Mulla – executive chairman, Baker and McKenzie Habib Al Mulla; Mona Ataya – CEO and founder of Mumzworld.com; John Martin St. Valery – chairman, British Business Group, Dubai and Northern Emirates; Ian Fairservice, managing partner and group editor-in-chief, Motivate; and Andrew Wingrove – group director, Motivate Media Group.
Masdar’s Al Ramahi first won the Energy Business Leader of the Year Award in 2016.
