Masdar together with federal departments and ministries across the UAE, joined together to celebrate “Flag Day”, an annual event marking the anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan becoming the President of the UAE on 3 November 2004.

Following the theme of “Raise it high, raise it proud”, the day celebrates the love, unity and loyalty of the people of the UAE to their homeland, and honours the nation’s wise leadership that has put the country and its citizens at the forefront of development and innovation.

Masdar employees and Masdar-based companies were invited to the flag raising ceremony at the Masdar Knowledge Centre, led by Mohammed Jamil Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar. The UAE flag was raised, followed by a playing of the national anthem, signifying the unity, loyalty and solidarity among the people of the UAE.

Flag Day embodies the meaning of unity and solidarity among the people of the UAE and its wise leadership, represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, was the first to raise the United Arab Emirates flag high, helping it to become a symbol of unity of its people.

The ceremony is a testament to the extent to which the people of this country are attached to the flag and its significance as a reflection of the achievements of the UAE and its people.
