About COP28

UAE Consensus sets a new path to accelerate climate action

Led by HE Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of Masdar and COP28 President, the United Nations Climate Conference reached a historic conclusion with the UAE Consensus. This commits parties to transition away from fossil fuels to reach net zero and encourages them to submit economy-wide Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Consensus included a new specific target to triple renewables and double energy efficiency by 2030, and builds momentum behind a new architecture for climate finance.
