Building Social Trust to Accelerate the Development of the Clean Hydrogen Economy
The world is on a journey to Net-Zero. To meet this goal, we must transform the global energy system. A key component of this will be how effectively we can transition green hydrogen from a concept to reality. Hydrogen is projected to grow sevenfold and, by 2050, account for 10% of the global energy supply.
However, whenever nascent technologies emerge from the science lab and make their way into the real world, naturally, there can be a lack of understanding. If not addressed, this can breed skepticism and misinformation, making it harder to effectively integrate and for society to reap the benefits.
Across a series of roundtables at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, COP28 in the UAE, and COP29 in Baku, Masdar and Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week convened industry leaders, investors, and representatives from civil society to better understand social trust and its role in driving a sustainable and equitable transition to Green Hydrogen.
The subsequent report, “Building Social Trust To Accelerate The Development Of The Clean Hydrogen Economy” details the key insights, takeaways, and recommendations from the sessions.
