Established in 2008 in honour of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his legacy in sustainability and humanitarianism, the Zayed Sustainability Prize is the UAE’s pioneering global award for recognising and rewarding organisations and high schools for their innovative sustainability solutions and projects.
Formerly known as the Zayed Future Energy Prize, in April 2018 the Prize evolved and expanded its recognition of additional sustainability categories, alongside energy, increasing its global reach and furthering its impact for inspiring pioneering innovators in core areas of sustainable development.
Over the past decade, the Prize’s annual awards have produced 76 winners who, directly and indirectly, have positively impacted over 318 million lives. In this time, the Prize has also sought to encourage and inspire others to adopt sustainable and human development practices around the world.
From 2019 awards, the Prize’s five categories are: Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools. The adoption of the new categories aligns the Prize more closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE government’s National Agenda 2021.
For the 2020 awards, submit your entry before May 30, 2019, and join a growing community of innovators who are realising the possibilities for a sustainable future.
