Sharjah has an ambitious goal to become the first zero-waste city in the Middle East by diverting all of its municipal waste away from landfill sites by 2020. Through a pioneering partnership to develop the country’s first waste-to-energy plant in the emirate, the new facility will play a significant role in achieving the UAE’s clean energy ambitions, while also paving the way for other similar projects to be launched in the country and across the MENA region.

Masdar and France Sign Joint Declaration to Cooperate on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund announces major projects in five countries
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) today announced the first five projects under the US$50 million UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (the Fund) across Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The projects will significantly reduce energy costs in the region, as well as improve resilience to natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma.
