The first of five turbines for the Hywind Scotland commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm has now sailed away (date 17/07/2017) from Stord in Norway to its final destination, Buchan Deep, 25 km east of Peterhead in Scotland. Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, announced that it had acquired a 25% stake in the Hywind Scotland project during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January.

Zayed Future Energy Prize Invites Entries to 10th Year

The 10th cycle of the Zayed Future Energy Prize is open for entries, it was announced earlier today. Masdar Unveils 2015 Sustainability Report

Masdar has released its 2015 Sustainability Report, documenting the renewable energy company’s sustainability milestones in the period October 2014 to September 2015. Masdar developed the report using the internationally recognised sustainability reporting framework from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), in accordance with the latest GRI G4 guidelines. The report discloses a wide variety of sustainability indicators, ranging from economic and environmental data to labour practices and employment information.

WEC and Masdar Sign Patronship Agreement to Address Global Sustainable Energy Access

The World Energy Council (WEC) and Masdar have signed a Patronship Agreement, announced on the sidelines of COP21 in Paris. Masdar and China Vanke Co. Ltd. Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, and China Vanke Co. Ltd. (Vanke), the Masdar Institute, BGI and China Merchants New Energy Group Limited (CMNE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration on potential projects in both the UAE and China. The signing took place during an Official Visit to the People’s Republic of China by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Annual Sustainability Festival to Return to Masdar City

The Festival at­­ Masdar City is set to return for a third year, continuing Masdar’s tradition of hosting a weekend of fun-filled activities for the family at the end of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). Running 22-23 January from 10am to 9pm, the Festival will welcome the community for an entertaining and educational program against the backdrop of one of the world’s most sustainable cities.
