Masdar to Acquire Saeta from Brookfield for $1.4 Billion
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC - Masdar (“Masdar”), the UAE’s clean energy powerhouse, today announced the proposed acquisition of Saeta Yield (“Saeta”) from Brookfield Renewable (NYSE: BEP, BEPC; TSX: BEP.UN, BEPC), together with its institutional partners (“Brookfield”), for an implied enterprise value of c. US$1.4 billion (€1.2 billion). Closing of the transaction is subject to customary approvals and is expected to occur around the end of 2024.

Three major solar projects inaugurated in the Caribbean
Three climate-resilient solar power projects in the Bahamas, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are being inaugurated this week under the US$50 million UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (UAE-CREF), the largest renewable energy initiative of its kind in the region. The fund is a partnership between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company).

Financial Times names Masdar City best free zone for renewable energy
Masdar City has been named “Best Free Zone for Start Up Support” by the Financial Times and has collected three other prestigious global awards. The Global Free Zone of the Year Awards hosted by the FT’s fDi Magazine are among the most high-profile awards in the free zone sector, with approximately 65 free zones entering this year’s competition. Solar and wind account for 67% of New Power Capacity Added Worldwide in 2019: BNEF
Solar and wind power accounted for over two-thirds of the 265GW of new capacity installed worldwide in 2019, up from less than a quarter of new build in 2010, according to data from BloombergNEF. Photovoltaics (PV) topped all other technologies in new-build terms, with a record 118 gigawatts constructed, and was the most popular technology deployed in a third of nations, the research company said.
