The UAE Inaugurates Three Micro Grid Solar Plants in Fiji
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s minister of foreign affairs, today inaugurated a solar photovoltaic micro grid project that brings clean energy to some of Fiji’s outer islands. Constructed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, the clean energy project is the third financed by the United Arab Emirates’ US$50 million Pacific Partnership Fund, through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The Fiji project was financed with US$5 million from the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund.

Nine Heads of State to Attend Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2016
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 13 January 2016 – His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, will deliver the keynote address to global sustainability leaders convening at the January 18 Opening Ceremony of the upcoming Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). He will be joined at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who will also deliver remarks, as well as nine heads of state.

WiSER initiative announces partnerships with UNFCCC and WEC

Prime Minister David Cameron inaugurates world’s largest offshore wind farm
London Array, the 630MW offshore wind farm located in the Outer Thames Estuary, first started generating power in October 2012. The 175th turbine was bought online in March 2013 and London Array is now celebrating the completion and full operation of the site, which could supply around 500,000 UK homes with electricity each year.
