MENA Startups Participate in “Pitch Sprint” as Part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2016
Abu Dhabi, UAE – 21 January, 2016: Promising technology startups, focused on technologies for sustainability, today had the chance to present their innovations at the first “Pitch Sprint” held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The invitation only, half-day, technology showcase was hosted by The Catalyst, the region’s first technology startup accelerator focused on sustainability and clean technologies, which was launched in November during UAE Innovation Week. The Catalyst is a partnership between Masdar, BP and Masdar Institute.

Changing lives with the power of the sun
Through Masdar, the UAE has successfully launched the first of three solar projects under the US$50 million Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund It is 1974 and diesel-powered electricity has finally arrived on Union Island, a picturesque remote island about an hour’s flight on a small twin-engine plane from Saint Vincent, the capital city of St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean.

Global Leaders Launch WiSER Initiative at New York City Event

Sultan bin Ahmed inaugurates Sharjah’s 1st solar plant ‘SANA’
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Petroleum Department, and President of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), attended the opening of "SANA," the first solar power plant in Sharjah, on Wednesday morning. This new facility covers a large area of 850,000 square meters and can produce 60 megawatts of energy. It is located next to the Sajaa Gas Plant.
