UN Top Climate Official Visits Zayed Future Energy Prize Winner Liter of Light in Manila
Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat visited Zayed Future Energy Prize 2015 winner Liter of Lightin the Philippines. During her visit, Ms. Figueres met volunteers of the open source network in Manila to raise awareness of climate action in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in December 2015 (COP-21).

First Wind Turbine at Dhofar Installed
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, December 26, 2018: Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, announced today the installation of the first of 13 turbines at the 50 megawatt (MW) Dhofar Wind Farm. Located in the southern Omani governorate of Dhofar, the project is fully financed by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for international development aid.

Bio-fuels and new-generation technologies coupled with known operations and infrastructure measures, will help the aviation industry reduce carbon emissions substantially. Masdar and Equinor inaugurate world’s first battery storage facility connected to an offshore wind
Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and the Norwegian multinational energy company Equinor (formerly Statoil) have installed, and will soon begin testing, a new battery system designed to store electricity generated by Hywind Scotland, the world’s first commercial-scale floating wind farm.

Hywind Scotland inauguration positions Masdar at the forefront of floating wind technology

Finalists announced for 2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize
International experts from the fields of energy, sustainability and education chose a shortlist of 34 finalists for the 2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize on Sunday and Monday during the third of a rigorous four-stage evaluation process. The finalists will now be discussed during a meeting of the prize’s Jury at the end of this month, with the winners to be announced at the annual awards ceremony during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE minister of foreign affairs, inaugurated the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) headquarters in Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City today reinforcing the UAE’s status as a global energy leader. The UAE Inaugurates Three Micro Grid Solar Plants in Fiji
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s minister of foreign affairs, today inaugurated a solar photovoltaic micro grid project that brings clean energy to some of Fiji’s outer islands. Constructed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, the clean energy project is the third financed by the United Arab Emirates’ US$50 million Pacific Partnership Fund, through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The Fiji project was financed with US$5 million from the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund.

Masdar’s Shams 1 Solar Plant Celebrates Second Anniversary
