Masdar, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and the Australian government announced that they will collaborate on sea ice research and energy efficiency in Antarctica to enhance scientific understanding of the effects of global warming and climate change on the polar continent. Masdar City’s Etihad Eco-Residence Wins Emirates Green Building Council MENA Green Building Award 2018
Masdar City’s Etihad Eco-Residence has won the Green Residential Building award at the Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Green Building Awards 2018. A team from Multiplex Constructions LLC, which built the complex, accepted the award for the Masdar-developed project at a recent ceremony in Dubai.

GRI to hold regional launch of new global sustainability reporting standards
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international independent organization that has pioneered corporate sustainability reporting since 1997, will hold the regional launch of the new GRI Standards in Abu Dhabi on 19th September 2017. Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s Renewable Energy Company, has launched the fourth annual international ‘Engage’ Blogging Contest ahead of January’s Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2016 – the Middle East’s largest gathering on sustainability. Masdar and ONEE Partner to Deliver Electricity to 940 Remote Villages in the Kingdom of Morocco
Masdar and Morocco’s Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE) have signed a partnership to design, supply and install 17,670 Solar Home Systems across 940 villages in the Kingdom of Morocco. When complete, the solar homes, along with broader electrification initiatives, will result in 99 percent of rural Morocco having access to energy by the end of 2017 – a critical resource that underpins economic development.

Financial Close Reached for the First Utility-Scale Wind Farm in Jordan
Jordan Wind Project Company (JWPC) today signed the financing agreement to begin construction of the Middle East’s first utility-scale wind-power project. Located in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the 117MW Tafila Wind Farm will increase the country’s total power capacity by 3%. The project will cost an estimated US$290 million.

Lighting up Australian Antarctic station with solar
Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, and the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) have successfully installed the first solar panel system at an Australian Antarctic station, it was announced today. The solar installation will provide up to 30 kW of electric power to the Casey research station, located on Vincennes Bay in the Windmill Islands, just outside the Antarctic Circle, during the Austral summer months. The aim of the project, which is the first solar array providing power to an Australian Antarctic research station, is to reduce the reliance on diesel fuel, which is delivered yearly by the AAD’s Antarctic icebreaker, the Aurora Australis, from Hobart, Tasmania – a journey of 3,443km.

Masdar Hits Halfway Milestone in Project Bringing Electricity to Rural Morocco
