Masdar Hosts Urban Development Workshop
Today, the Urban Journalism Academy, a pioneering initiative to train journalists and media professionals with an interest in sustainable, urban development, held a workshop for media on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2016. Organized by United Nations Habitat III Secretariat and hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Government of United Arab Emirates and Masdar, the workshop convened over 30 representatives of local, regional and international media.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – February 25, 2016: Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi has been formally appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. Mr Al Ramahi joined Masdar in 2008 as Head of Internal Audit and Compliance, rising to Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Operating Officer.

Thousands of students will participate in a thrilling 5-day event as Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in Schools (ADSWS) launches fun-filled, educational activities tomorrow in schools throughout the emirate. Masdar and ONEE Partner to Deliver Electricity to 940 Remote Villages in the Kingdom of Morocco
Masdar and Morocco’s Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE) have signed a partnership to design, supply and install 17,670 Solar Home Systems across 940 villages in the Kingdom of Morocco. When complete, the solar homes, along with broader electrification initiatives, will result in 99 percent of rural Morocco having access to energy by the end of 2017 – a critical resource that underpins economic development.

Financial Close Reached for the First Utility-Scale Wind Farm in Jordan
Jordan Wind Project Company (JWPC) today signed the financing agreement to begin construction of the Middle East’s first utility-scale wind-power project. Located in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the 117MW Tafila Wind Farm will increase the country’s total power capacity by 3%. The project will cost an estimated US$290 million.

UAE rolls out renewable energy training programme for Pacific Island countries
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) has launched a two-year renewable energy training programme for Pacific Island countries financed by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), theleading national entity for development aid. The training is being led by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company.

Public Art of the Sustainable City
When we think of renewable energy infrastructure, we often have in mind dark blue photovoltaic rectangles carpeting the landscape, or large three-blade horizontal axis wind turbines marching along mountain ridges or into the sea. We think about grid reliability and consumer cost per kilowatt-hour, or we think about the climate change apocalypse that we will impose on future generations if we fail to act swiftly enough.

Zayed Sustainability Prize winner pilots project at Masdar City

UAE and New Zealand inaugurate solar power plant in Solomon Islands
The United Arab Emirates and New Zealand today inaugurated a solar power plant in Solomon Islands, developed and deployed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. The project was deployed as part of the US $50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-PPF) financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the development arm of the UAE government.
