Youth for Sustainability actively contributes to preparing the next generation
Masdar’s Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Virtual Forum concluded following a successful three-day dialogue at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2021, which included inspirational discussion and keynotes by government leaders, industry experts, young innovators and social entrepreneurs. The Forum wrapped up with the Ecothon PitchDay competition for Y4S participants, which focused on innovation in sustainability.

Masdar Begins Delivery of Four New UAE Funded Solar Projects in Pacific Island Countries
Masdar today announced the construction kick-off for four new solar-power projects in the Pacific island countries of Kiribati, Fiji, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Financed under the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development’s US$50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund, the solar projects will collectively deliver 1.8 megawatts of clean energy and contribute to fuel savings worth US$2 million per year. Completion of the projects is expected by the second half of 2015.

Financing commitments mark critical milestone in development of Bee’ah’s and Masdar’s Sharjah waste-to-energy facility

Solar power – a primer
The energy that the Earth receives from the Sun in just one hour is equal to the total amount of energy consumed by humans in one year. Part of this energy can be converted into electricity by photovoltaic systems. The basic unit of these systems is the light-absorbing solar cell, also called a photovoltaic (PV) cell. Conventional solar cells contain a rigid semiconductor wafer made of crystalline silicon as the PV material, although other PV materials are now in use as well.

Masdar to Deliver 12MW of Solar Power in Mauritania
Masdar today signed a contract with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, to deliver seven solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, with a total capacity of 12 megawatts, providing access to clean and reliable energy to seven towns across the country. Completion of all the projects is expected by the first quarter of 2016.

Dr Lamya Fawwaz, Executive Director of Brand and Strategic Initiatives, Masdar, has been recognized as Woman of the Year at the fourth annual Women in Renewables Asia (WiRA) Awards event, held yesterday in Dubai. The event also saw Masdar sign a pledge committing to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
