UAE and New Zealand inaugurate solar power plant in Solomon Islands
The United Arab Emirates and New Zealand today inaugurated a solar power plant in Solomon Islands, developed and deployed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. The project was deployed as part of the US $50 million UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund (UAE-PPF) financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the development arm of the UAE government.

DEWA signs with Masdar to implement 800MW 3rd phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced today the selected bidder for the 800 megawatt (MW) third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will be constructed based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. HE Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State, and Chairman of Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, was present. The selected bidder for the project is a Masdar-led consortium including the Spanish companies FRV (Fotowatio Renewable Ventures) and Gransolar Group. The consortium bid a Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE), of 2.99 US cents per kilowatt hour (kW/h).

Masdar and UK Green Investment Bank Sign MoU
Today, Masdar and the UK Green Investment Bank plc (GIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore project investment opportunities in the UK’s clean energy sector. Delegation from Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh Visits Masdar City
Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his delegation from the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh visited Masdar City today. They met senior members of Masdar City’s management, and were given a guided tour to showcase the city as an example of sustainability and urban planning best practices. Finalists announced for 2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize
International experts from the fields of energy, sustainability and education chose a shortlist of 34 finalists for the 2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize on Sunday and Monday during the third of a rigorous four-stage evaluation process. The finalists will now be discussed during a meeting of the prize’s Jury at the end of this month, with the winners to be announced at the annual awards ceremony during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January.
