Overview

Masdar, in partnership with EWEC, is reimagining the potential of renewable energy, producing gigascale baseload power at a globally competitive tariff for the first time. Combining a 5.2 gigawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) facility with a 19 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage system, the project will deliver 1GW of stable 24/7 renewable power.

First announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in January 2025, Masdar officially broke ground in October 2025 marking the start of construction on what will become the world’s largest and most technologically project of its kind.

This world-first project sets a new global benchmark for energy systems and is designed to be replicated in other markets, highlighting Masdar’s leadership in driving scalable, future-proof energy solutions. This is clean energy built for the digital age: intelligent, efficient, and 24/7.
