Overview

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is implementing the 1800-megawatt sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Park in cooperation with Masdar, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. It is part of what will be the largest single-site solar park in the world, with a planned capacity of 7,2600MW by 2030.

DEWA established the Shuaa Energy 4 project company in partnership with Masdar, which is 60 percent owned by DEWA and 40 percent by Masdar, to develop Phase 6. The project is set to be completed next year.

Phase 6 will provide clean energy for approximately 540,000 residences and avoid around 2.36 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project will cover an area of 20 square kilometers and will feature the latest solar photovoltaic bifacial technologies with single-axis tracking.
