Masdar wraps up successful week at WETEX 2019
As a strategic sponsor of WETEX 2019, Masdar was honoured to play a key role in one of the region’s largest sustainability and technology exhibitions this year.
Held under the umbrella of Green Week, the 21st edition of WETEX was organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and featured some of the world’s leading players in water, energy, technology, the environment, innovation and solar.
WETEX 2019, which was held from October 21-23 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, was also an opportunity to drive awareness of Masdar’s leading role in the development and commercialisation of innovative renewable energy projects, sustainable urban development, clean technologies and smart mobility, both in the UAE and globally.
During the three-day event, Masdar announced a number of new initiatives, including being named as the winning bidder to develop Uzbekistan’s first public-private partnership solar project. Other news included the strategic partnership between Masdar City and ekar to bring the first Tesla car-share operation to the Middle East, and being appointed to develop the solar project that will power Bee’ah’s new headquarters.
The event also hosted a number of speakers from Masdar, including Dr Ibraheem Al Mansouri, Head, Engineering, Clean Energy, who spoke at a technical panel on Key Drivers for Cheap Solar Cells Progression; and Dr Alexander Ritschel, Head, Technology, Clean Energy, who joined a panel on the Big Energy Conversations (Part 2): The Role of Storage in the Energy Transition to Renewable Energy.
Dr Sameer Abu Zaid, Head, Project Management Services, Clean Energy, was invited by TUV NORD to join their panel on the Future of Solar in the UAE, while Stephen Severence, Head, Program Management and Marketing, Sustainable Real Estate, spoke about the latest updates on electric vehicles.
