Masdar youth platform holds orientation for 2021 Sustainability Ambassadors program
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S), one of Masdar’s strategic outreach initiatives, this week held an orientation for the 2021 cohort of the Sustainability Ambassadors program.
Hosted virtually, the day-long event saw the members of the Y4S team introduce students to the objectives of the year-long program, which has been adapted to a fully digital format.
As part of the Sustainability Ambassadors program, high school students, aged 15 to 18, take part in core knowledge & skills training, authentic work experience, and quality networking opportunities at major events during the academic year.
By participating in the program, students have the opportunity to play an active role in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) while learning about the future outlook of the sustainability agenda, and better understand how to positively contribute to the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 2021 program is welcoming 66 new members comprising 16 nationalities.
The year-long agenda will kick off at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which has been reimagined as a virtual event for 2021. Y4S will be hosting Youth Dialogue – a week-long series of panels, keynotes and workshops exploring leadership and sustainability, future skills and innovation, entrepreneurships and looking forward to the next 50 years.
The initiative aims to reach over 50,000 youth by 2030, preparing them for the pivotal role they play in contributing to viable solutions that address climate change and the world’s sustainability challenges.
