Forbes ranks Masdar in its inaugural list of 15 most sustainable companies in the region
Masdar has been named by Forbes Middle East in its inaugural list of the 15 most sustainable companies in the region. The list, which is ranked alphabetically, focuses on the “biggest companies that are making significant efforts to become more sustainable”.
The list was compiled using the criteria of environmental impact, such as contributing to emission reductions, and metrics achieved, the financial sustainability of the initiatives, revenues, and clientele.
Masdar’s multi-billion-dollar renewable energy portfolio, encompassing more than 30 countries, including the UAE, UK, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, was highlighted by Forbes Middle East in the company’s ranking. The website also referenced Masdar’s recent installation of 20,000 solar home systems in Morocco, and the company’s agreement in January to acquire a 40 per cent stake in a waste-to-energy facility in Australia, which is forecast to power more than 36,000 homes upon completion.
“We are extremely proud to be recognised in the first-ever Forbes Middle East list of the region’s most sustainable companies, which reflects the progress we have made in driving renewable energy development here in the region” said Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar. “Since our inception in 2006, Masdar is committed to being a pioneer in the sustainability sector and we have set many benchmarks in renewable energy globally, as well as sustainable real estate through the development of Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, helping to position the UAE as a sustainability leader in the region and beyond. We are already present in more than 30 countries, and we expect to make further progress in the years to come.”
